Sawbones Marital Tour of Misguided Medicine Podcast
Sawbones: A Marital Tour of Misguided Medicine is a podcast distributed by the comedy network Maximum Fun. While the podcast is promoted as a comedy, it’s much more. It’s presented by a wife (physician) and husband (comedian) team. Their website blip says, “Join Justin and Dr. Sydnee McElroy on a marital tour of misguided medicine as they discuss the weird, gross, and sometimes downright dangerous ways we tried to solve our medical woes through the ages.”
A Funny Comedy Routine Plus Good Medical Information and History
The Sawbones podcast in really entertaining. We say this clearly because we don’t want our main message to be lost as we drill down to more dry facts. The lady physician of this wife and husband comedy team is Sydnee McElroy, MD. She is, in a sense, the “straight man” of the comedy duo. Her husband Justin McElroy plays the role of “everyman”, just one of us non-medical people in the room. But it doesn’t feel as though he is playing a part. He really seems to be just a guy delivering some really funny lines.
Now About That Good Medical Information and History
Now that we’ve hopefully made the point that the podcase is really entertaining and we think that you might enjoy listening to it, on to the more serious medical part. Dr. Sydnee McElroy provides good, solid medical information and is a remarkably good medical historian and storyteller. She spends a lot of time researching her topics and learns the facts, the people, and the places that influenced medical history. Medical history has some real characters. Even the descriptions of their personalities is entertaining. She covers topics like “How Yellow Fever (Nearly) Destroyed Philadelphia”, “Blue Light Therapy”, “The Great Smog”, and “Don’t Steal Your Dog’s Worm Medicine to Treat COVID-19”.

We want to let you know that Sydnee real. Dr. McElroy is a family physician in Huntington, West Virginia, specializing in Family Medicine and International Medicine. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She’s an Assistant Professor at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, from which she graduated in 2009 and then completed her residency in Family Medicine, and is affiliated with the Cabell Huntington Hospital. Her professional memberships include the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. The American Medical Women’s Association awarded her the Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement. Sydnee describes herself as the mother of two daughters, Charlie and Cooper.
Justin Tyler McElroy
Justin McElroy is the co-host of the podcast and an able comedian. In the past he was a video game journalist. He has produced and starred in several other podcasts and websites. And, yes, he is a real comedian.
What Fuels Success with Sydnee and Justin McElroy?
The staff here at the Neuroscience Research and Development Consultancy had quite a discussion about this question, even though the answers were clear from the outset. Dr. McElroy, as a licensed physician, brings true professional credits to the mix. It seems she has also enjoyed medical history as a hobby for many years. Justin has a long record of success as a comedian, self-promoter, podcaster, and producer. At the microphone the two together are a well-practiced duo, amiable, funny, astute, and likable. One of our staff even suggested that if we had a comedian in the literary mix on our site it would be that much more popular. There was a moment of silence as we all glanced at each other. Nope, no comedians here! Sad story!
